The Clean Water Act (CWA) prohibits the discharge of any pollutant to the waters of the United States from a point source unless the discharge is authorized by a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Under the CWA, the EPA authorizes the NPDES program to be administered, permitted and enforced by the states, tribes and territorial governments. An NPDES permit is typically a license for a facility to discharge a specified amount of pollutants into a receiving water under certain conditions. There are three basic types of NPDES permits, individual, group and general permits.
Integra Environmental assists owners and operators of industrial facilities comply with the NPDES permitting process. To comply with the NPDES permitting process, Integra Environmental has become familiar with the requirements including the NPDES storm water program. To prevent the storm water runoff to pick pollutants like chemicals, oils and sediments, Integra Environmental uses storm water controls known as best management practices (BMPs). Depending on the type of industry activity, a sampling and laboratory analysis plan is prepared and implemented to determine the conditions of the storm water. Additionally, Integra Environmental offers routine training of personnel involved with the implementation of the SWPPP.
